How I Met my Husband (Part 1)

Writer's picture: Nicole Nicole

Hey there! I hope you are doing well today. This is just a short story of how I met and got married to my husband.

First of all, I am so used to telling this story verbally. So just bare with me.

A little back story on us: So if you didn't know, My name is Nicole and my husband's name is Lepaul. We are both the same age just a few months apart (my husband being the older one)

Both of us went to the same Primary school. We also graduated the same year.

Even though we knew each other from we were about 8/9 years old, we were not friends at that time. We had different friend groups, we had different class teachers but we still knew each other existed.

Even to this day he can tell me about stuff he remembers me doing from so long ago. Lol, those of which I won't mention here. For good reasons....

SO, what happened after primary school? We basically went our seperate ways. We passed for different high schools and we didn't have a bond so there was no connection to keep.

In the year 2017 though we saw each other closely at church. It was good to see a friendly face after all those years. Especially someone I would have known from earlier stages of life. We would greet each other and pass by and that was it for some time.

In the year 2018, I relocated to Mandeville to continue my studies at the main campus of my university. Little did I know that Mandeville was also where Lepaul was going to college. I was travelling back and forth on weekends mostly, so between school assignments, church activities and getting prepared for the new weeks of school every week, we weren't really in each others space.

If you remember my blog titled, (7 Years) this is where I talked about the year 2019. It being a year of something special. Well, hang on in there. It's about that time.

Earlier in this year (2019), I had lost a friend due to a car accident. I was really shaken up. The fact that I saw the friend couple hours before it happened. And guess where I heard of this news? Sitting in church while the preacher was preaching. I was so overwhelmed. I had to go outside to get some air and also to just take a moment and cry. Lepaul was the first person I encountered on my walk to find somewhere that was secluded.

I don't remember his exact words but they were words of comfort, He didn't stop me from crying but told me to cry as much as i needed. He gave me a hug and we went our ways.

I was in the town of Mandeville one day, specifically walking to Juici beef because i didn't want to cook dinner that day, I was just gonna settle for 2 cheese patties and a drink. I have snacks at home but i needed something heavier at that time. As I was walking in, Lepaul was walking out. We were both surprised because it was the first time we had seen each other in this parish.

We greeted each other and I remember expressing to him that I didn't know anyone that much because i had just moved to the parish couple months ago. So we decided that we could hang out and chill most Saturdays.

Lepaul and I met up about a week after that and we took a walk through the town, jus walking and chatting away. I remember we sat on the wall of Mega Mart till the sun was setting. We had some funny converstaions and we had some heart to heart talks. He followed me to put me in a taxi to go home that evening because it was getting late.

Leapul and I began to talk on the phone very frequently. Helping each other with assignments and even started to read the bible together. We eventually knew each others schedule and could tell what we both have going on.

We decided to meet up anohter time a couple weeks after that to get ice cream. It was this new place that opened up that was called Rolly Polly. We went and we had an awesome time.

Cutting this long story short.......

Couple months after that we went on our first date to the movies. I have the tickets even now. We went and we saw John Wick 3. It was a lovely first date and i cherish that day up to this date!

We then began to go out together alot. We went and saw more movies, we went shopping, we went on picnics, we went to family functions, we went on ministeral activities.

These few months were really great, we got to know each other more and we started developing strong feelings for one another.

Moving along, Lepaul eventually graduated that same year, however he was still in the parish of Manchester which is about 25-30 minutes from the town. Safe to say, i felt that God put him there for me🥰

We had a great 2 years hanging out together. It was almost like a dream come true really. We were each other's safe space and we came together just like best friends.

I then graduated in the year of 2021. He was such a big supporter in this season for me. Knowing the set backs and difficulties that I had. I really needed him in this time, and he came through!

Now I know...... I know.... You want know more right?

This is just part 1. Part 2 will be on its way in a little bit.

I hope you enjoyed reading tho☺️

See you in the next post!❤️

Don't go too far 🫠
